The Daytona 500, which is considered to be the most prestigious and important race in NASCAR, will mark the official start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The race is scheduled to start on Sunday, 16 February 2025, 14:30 ET.
A little bit of history
The Daytona 500 was first held on 22nd of February 1959 when Lee Petty, the father of NASCAR legend Richard Petty, won the race against Johnny Beauchamp. Since then, the Daytona 500 has grown into NASCAR’s biggest and most prestigious race, being dubbed “The Great American Race” or the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing”.

Daytona 500 in 2025
This year, Shane van Gisbergen will make his debut in the race after signing with Trackhouse Racing. Furthermore, new teams will make their debut: JR Motorsports, Haas Factory Team, and Tricon Garage.
According to some bookmakers, Kyle Busch has the biggest chances to win this year’s race, closely followed by Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney. However, anything can happen, and there are many great players who could win this year’s race. Let’s not discount William Byron, who is aiming to defend his title with Hendrick Motorsports.
