The Spanish General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has taken major steps to combat illegal gambling operations in the country. As announced on May 6, 2025, DGOJ has imposed sanctions totalling €77.4 million on unlicensed and non-compliant operators active in the Spanish market.
Fourteen foreign operators were found guilty of offering online gambling services without a proper license. Thirteen of them received fines of €5 million each, and one was fined €10 million for repeated offenses. All 14 operators were also banned from operating in the Spanish market for two years and their websites were ordered to shut down.
The sanctioned companies are: Wot NV, Magicwin games tech LTD, Winbet NV, Spicyjactpos games tech LTS, Lama tech limitada, Chestoption sociedad de responsabilidad limitada, Pennytech holding BV, Group gaem BV, Mibs NV, Fgs software solutions S.R.L, Investan NV, Tinietech holding B.V, Adonio NV, Techsolutions group N.V.
In addition, the DGOJ also sanctioned 11 licensed operators for serious regulatory violations, with fines totalling €2.4 million. Companies fined include Millonapp SL, Bingosoft PLC, Wagerfair SA, Media 24, Juegos de azar y servicios SL, Conespa Solutions, TSG Interactive PLC, WHG Spain PLC, Fpoocl SA, 888 Online Games España SA.
These measures highlight Spain’s firm stance on protecting players and enforcing compliance within its regulated gambling environment.
