Betting on Table tennis

BETTING ON TABLE TENNIS

Table tennis, also known as ping-pong in many countries, is a sport which was probably played (at least once in a lifetime) by most people. Being an Olympic sport played all over the world by both amateur and professional players, table tennis is one of the sports on which bettors place the highest number of online bets.

With origins in England (back to 1880s), table tennis is one of the sports which evolved really fast and by 1921 a Table Tennis Association was founded, followed by an International Table Tennis Federation in 1926. Nowadays, table tennis is played in many countries, national and international competitions (even at Olympics).

Table tennis is a sport which is played all over the world, but especially in the Asian countries. You can find many table tennis competitions in China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom and even United States. Here are some other great competitions where table tennis is played:

o Table Tennis European Championships;
o Table tennis at the Mediterranean Games;
o Table tennis at the Summer Olympics;
o Table tennis at the Summer Paralympics;
o World Table Tennis Championships.

Most winners in the World Championships and Olympics are from China. In fact, the most notable table tennis players are from China, with only one exception - Jan-Ove Waldner, a Swedish player who won the Olympics in 1992, the World Chmpionships in 1989 and 1997 and the World Cup in 1990.

Table tennis fans now have the possibility of placing online bets on their favorite sports. Bet365 and Unibet are just a few examples of online bookmakers where table tennis events (both pre-match and in-play) are available, along with live video transmissions of the most popular tournaments and championships.

Some of the major betting markets that you can enjoy for table tennis are:

o Match betting - you need to predict who will be the winner of the table tennis match;
o Point betting - this market is available only for in-play events (you can predict who will score the next points);
o Game betting - you can predict the winner of each game (usually, this market is available only for in-play events);
o Handicap betting;
o Some online bookmakers may even deliver odd/even markets.

Betting online on table tennis is not such an easy task because of the few online bookmakers which have this sport in their betting offer and because it's very difficult to analyze and predict the behavior of a table tennis player (especially if you're betting on game or point markets), but table tennis remains an exciting sport to watch - so betting for fun is an excellent option.
