Terms and conditions in online betting

TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN ONLINE BETTING

One of the most important things when registering with an online bookmaker is to read the terms & conditions before accepting them. Unfortunately, most bettors completely ignore them and in most cases they accept the rules without reading them.

First of all, the main condition of opening an online betting account is that the player must be over 18 years of age. Any player who is under 18 years of ages will have the account closed and the winnings confiscated at most online bookmakers.

Another rule which seems to be ignored by many bettors is that welcome bonuses can be requested only once per IP/address/family. Unfortunately, many bettors try to abuse the welcome promotions by registering accounts on behalf of the father, mother, sister, brother or any other relative. Such situations can be treated differently by online bookmakers, but basically most of them will have the same end: related accounts will be closed.

When registering an account, all online bookmakers clearly specify that the players must use real personal details (such as name, address, telephone etc.). Any wrong or fake detail can cause problems to the players when they are be requested to send documents (eg: ID card, passport, driver's license) for verifying the account.

A rule which is not specified in the terms & conditions of most bookies, but which can still have a great importance even as an unwritten rule is the following: players should not use their betting accounts as bank accounts or deposit and withdraw without playing/placing bets. Some online bookmakers can block the funds of the player who will deposit and withdraw immediately without playing (the players will immediately become suspects of money laundering).

Depositing using credit/debit cards or e-wallet accounts with a different name than the name registered in the betting account will definitely lead to account closure. Such situations are always considered frauds (and they really are in most cases), therefore most online bookmakers have a very strict policy regarding this subject.

The last, but not the least important condition which seems to be ignored, is that any error which is detrimental to the online bookmaker will be solved and any winnings obtained because of these errors will be revoked by any means. For example: an online bookmaker can make a mistake, set some odds of 10.00 instead of 2.00 and bettors could try to bet and take advantage. If they win and withdraw, online bookmakers can still come back to the result, change the odds or VOID the bets and eventually cancel the payments.

Overall, reading carefully the terms & conditions of an online bookmaker before registering is definitely a very important thing to do in order to get used to the bookie's rules and also avoid problems in the future.
