Bets settlement duration

BETS SETTLEMENT DURATION

The settlement duration for a bet can heavily influence the activity of an online bettor, especially if most of the bets are placed LIVE on betting markets that theoretically should be settled fast. We would like to discuss this subject and point out some tips that can help you cope better with issues that may occur because of the settlement delays.

If your betting activity is mainly focused on live betting, you need to choose online betting sites which proved to be very fast in validating the bets. Usually, bookies settle the bets relatively fast, however, there can be some exceptions. Even the best online bookmakers, like Bet365, can sometimes have major delays, especially when it comes to sporting events that are not so popular or when there are technical issues caused by the weather.

Online bookmakers (or their sources) can have difficulties in confirming the live score and actions of a game if the weather conditions are bad. Therefore, in such situations you may see wrong scores, delays in updating the markets and also delays in the settlement of the bets.

Although it can be frustrating when something like this happens, the only thing you can do is to wait for your bet to be validated. However, it is advisable to stop playing at the bookies who start to make a habit of settling the in-play bets (e.g. first goal scored, winner of 1st game etc.) only after the match ends.

When it comes to pre-match betting, things are a bit different. First, the delays in settlement can be caused if a game was interrupted or postponed. Generally, bookies wait until the game is replayed, however, if it's not played in a specific period, they can void the bets. Second, delays can also happen simply because the traders are not acting fast enough or they do not have access to official sources to confirm the result as fast as possible after it ended. The great thing is that you can do something about this: if you notice that a game you placed a bet on already finished and the bet is not settled, you should contact the customer support and provide an official source (e.g. official website of the tournament) with the game result. As a result, your information will be forwarded to the traders and your bet will be validated.

Overall, there aren't too many things to do in order to influence the speed of bets settlement, but the risks can be reduced by choosing a bookmaker with good ratings.
