Changing the betting currency

CHANGING THE BETTING CURRENCY

Many bettors do not really care about the betting currency of an account and they usually choose the currency of their country (if available) or one of the most popular international currencies for their regions (USD, EUR etc). However, in some cases the betting currency, can influence the payment method and deposits / withdrawals commissions.

Usually, online betting sites do not allow you to change the currency, meaning that after you registered there's no option within the account to change the currency selected when registering, however sometimes you can change it by asking the customer support operators. Online bookmakers can react in several ways:

1. Some online bookmakers do not allow you to change the betting currency, regardless of the reason. This can happen because they simply can't do it (their platform doesn't allow it) or because they don't want to do it (they can be covered by the terms & conditions).
2. Some online bookmakers can't change your betting currency, but will allow you to register a new account (with the desired currency) and transfer the funds from the old account to the new account.
3. Some online bookmakers can change your betting currency, but this can happen only once. You can't revert back after you've made up your mind.
4. Some online bookmakers can change your betting currency as often as you want. This is possible because some payment methods are available only when using specific currencies.

Why it's important to choose your betting currency wisely:

1. Some payments are available only for specific currencies. This doesn't mean that a specific payment provided (e.g. Skrill) doesn't accept the currency, but the online bookmaker doesn't accept it. The cause of this is simple: bookies can have limited business accounts (for payments) in order to reduce the fees.
2. When depositing using a bank transfer or credit card you can pay some big fees if the betting currency is different than your bank account currency. E.g. if you transfer from USD to EUR, the exchange rate can come with some additional fees.
3. If you choose a betting currency you're used to, it can be easier to organize your bets and not overspend when placing bets.
